The changes this summer at Big White have been awesome, the summer plans have finally been realized. With approximately $3.2 million spent according to the locals on new developments that include biking and hiking trails, $1 million spent on the new 60ft wide bridge from the village, a $3.9 million brand new Powder Chair lift, new lodging for Big White staff, and most importantly restaurants open and serving excellent food, the locals are celebrating! Kids are loving it!
This has been Big White’s largest year of investment in the past decade. Changes are being made to accommodate increasing traffic flow, such as the expansion of the main tunnel in the Village through the Hummingbird run to over double its capacity. With record numbers of visitors hitting the slopes, Big White is taking it all in stride and ensuring that the increased population doesn’t impact service. Replacing the Powder Chair, Big White’s oldest operating lift, will likely bring more visitors to the far side of the hill, Gem Lake, and decrease the delays felt at the Ridge Rocket and Snow Ghost chairs.
Experiencing the Best Big White has to Offer
For me, the main highlight at Big White has been the Moose! I could not figure out why I was seeing so many! It turns out that Big White has the highest elevation Salt Bog across from the Transfer Station, the Moose go there to cool off! Mother Nature always has a reason! Just one of the many truly Canadian experiences to be felt at Big White this Winter.
